Aquaseal ship bespoke protection wraps to Peru for special application

We’re fortunate to work with clients all over the world and for one of our latest projects we shipped some neoprene protection wraps all the way to South America!

For this project, we were working with NICC Ltd who has been supplying ARMAWRAPS for corrosion protection to the offshore oil business for more than 30 years.

ARMAWRAP consists of neoprene, reinforced with nylon material and a felt inner that is loaded with anti-corrosion gel. Our relationship with NICC Ltd began around two years ago when their long-standing manufacturer told them that they could no longer supply their specially designed protection wraps that prevent steel structures from corroding at sea. This is when they turned to us!

After a few phone calls and a visit by MD Jason to their base in Scotland, we agreed to start some trials to take over full production. This took some trial and error to source the right raw materials, experiment with new designs, and meet the complex needs of the offshore industry. But the results have been fantastic – we are now producing the smart-looking wraps at our North East headquarters. We have also carried out further development to create some reducing bore size wraps for a special application in Peru.

The material we use here is Armawrap – a neoprene-based rubber with a special anti-corrosion coating applied. This bespoke and heavy-duty material is seawater resistant for 20-25 years and the coating protects the steel structure from corroding while out at sea. The raw material is made bespoke in the UK under strict licencing agreement and tests are carried out on every batch to make sure they pass the tear strength and quality control assessments. This is especially important to us and our client due to the extreme offshore conditions that the materials will be exposed to, it has to be right.

For the latest order, it took 12 weeks from order to shipping to Peru and the customer is really pleased with the end product. Malcolm Stewart, Managing Director at NICC gave us some great feedback: “I have been very impressed with the speed at which they grasped the important parts of manufacturing our wraps and by the innovative ideas they have had to simplify the production of our designs. They have shown a real commitment to us and have a “can-do” attitude which makes it a pleasure to work with them. I can recommend Aquaseal to anyone who wants rubber products made to a high standard and with little fuss.”

Another excellent project from the team where we’ve used our research and development expertise to produce a bespoke and long-lasting product for a niche client.
