Certificate Number 12859
Aquaseal Rubber is ISO 9001 : 2015

Rubber is a crucial material in the construction industry because it ensures the safety and comfort of construction workers whilst also enhancing several applications.

With numerous properties, including weather resistance, sealing capacity, mechanical strength and wide availability, construction rubber products are customisable to meet project specifications.

Certain rubber materials are better suited to applications across the construction industry, like cable routing, flooring and personal protective equipment (PPE), because they are resistant to weather, oil and abrasion, boast flexibility whilst maintaining strength under harsh industrial conditions and meet health and safety standards for employees.

At Aquaseal Rubber, we work with clients operating in varied industries with bespoke rubber products, including in the construction industry. We produce everything from industry-specific rubber to window seals for large buildings and rubber washers for glass stairways. Our rubber for construction offering is designed, manufactured, supplied and installed to meet safety standards whilst ensuring maximum performance.

Rubber materials used in the construction industry

The uses of rubber in the construction industry are extremely vast, meaning different rubber materials are better suited to certain applications. You may be looking for construction rubber to prevent damage to data cables or rubber for construction protection, like hand, foot or head protection. This will impact the type of rubber materials used to manufacture your product.

The benefits of choosing bespoke rubber products mean that no matter the application you require from Aquaseal Rubber, the final product will be manufactured with tailored precision, enhanced durability and optimised performance in mind.

Construction rubber materials range from PVC nitrile for cable routine, nitrile for rubber sheeting in flooring and neoprene for PPE. Other materials used in the rubber for construction applications include natural rubber for vibration and sound absorption and silicone for expansion joints.

At Aquaseal Rubber, we can provide products made from natural rubber or other types produced through the synthetic rubber production process.

Rubber for cable routing

Bespoke rubber products are crucial in a range of construction applications, including for data cables. A cable path, or routing, is used to protect electrical or data cabling within a facility, utilising tools like trays, ladders or conduits to prevent damage and reduce trip hazards.

Aqualay (PVC nitrile) is used in both commercial and residential environments where cable routing is used in building where data cables are laid to help cushion cables, prevent damage and reduce hazards.

PVC and nitrile are combined to produce Aqualay because of their individual properties PVC is a durable yet flexible cost-effective rubber material, whilst nitrile is highly resistant to oils, chemicals and abrasion. Together, they create a stronger, more suitable material which outperforms standard PVC in oil or high-wear industrial applications.

In cable routing, Aqualay is found in cable trays and ladders, ducts and trunks, floor covers and ramps, conduits and management systems. By using bespoke rubber for cable routing, you can achieve effective perimeter routing whilst ensuring exterior protection and complying with strict safety standards.

Rubber for flooring

The rubber found in flooring sheets and tiles, extension joint fillers and covers, industrial and heavy-duty building floors and edge details and floor transitions must be strong, resilient and resistant to many different liquids.

Natural rubber is used in vibration pads and bearings, rubber sheeting for flooring and acoustic underlays because of its strong elasticity and resilience, excellent vibration and shock absorption, good acoustic performance and cost-effectiveness for interior applications.

Styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) is used in edge details and floor transitions because it has good abrasion resistance, consistent mechanical properties and is a low cost, widely available material, typically found in recycled rubber flooring, acoustic underlays and impact protection layers.

Nitrile is a common construction rubber material found in industrial and heavy-duty building floors because it is resistant to oils, greases, fuels and solvents as well as punctures and abrasion, whilst also maintaining strength under industrial conditions.

Rubber for PPE

Protective equipment is important in many industries, including construction. Therefore, rubber for construction is used in PPE like gloves, safety boots and overshoes, head protection components and eye, face and respiratory protection.

Natural rubber is used in hand protection because it has high elasticity for wet and dry grip but also provides comfort for long wear when conducting general handling, bricklaying and wet concrete and mortar work. Neoprene is used because it has strong weather, UV and ozone resistance, but it also resistant to heat and flames, so is used in demolition projects and for outdoor work in harsh conditions.

Butyl rubber is commonly found in foot protection because it creates a barrier for chemicals and moisture to prevent water ingress in wet ground conditions and exposure to acids, alkalis and corrosive substances.

Silicone rubber is used for head protection to ensure extreme performance whilst enhancing comfort and hygiene in head protection through face and forehead seals and specialised helmet liners because it is soft and flexible, operates in a wide temperature range and is easy to clean.

Used for face, eye and respiratory protection, neoprene offers excellent sealing against the face and conforms to different face shapes, provides good resistance to dust, moisture and weather for outdoor worksites or cutting, drilling or grinding, and has good chemical resistance to prevent respiratory system using respirator face seals.

Frequently Asked Questions about Aerospace Rubber

What is construction rubber and why is it important?

Rubber is used across the construction industry to ensure the safety and comfort of construction workers whilst also enhancing several applications across cable routing, flooring and PPE.

These different types of construction rubber must be designed and manufactured to meet strict health and safety standards.

What rubber products are in demand in the construction industry?

Rubber materials like EPDM, neoprene, natural rubber and PVC nitrile are used across many applications in construction. Selected for their resistance to weather, strength and resilience and sealing capabilities, these materials are used to produce everything from rubber seals and gaskets to rubber sheeting.

What challenges do rubber products address in the construction industry?

Since the construction industry focuses on building and maintaining the internal and external features of buildings used by the public, as well as ensuring safety for those working on these sites, rubber materials and products must meet certain health and safety standards to ensure safety, comfort and long-lasting performance.
